The National Media had been laying down a steady drumbeat of bad news, filled with bailouts, downturns and shortfalls, but there was no shortage of new faces, fine play or good times at this year’s Western Open. Open Singles saw a number of first-time contestants on the tour and when the dust had settled, a worthy and historic Champion.
